I am so relieved
On my company's announcement board I found the following note:
Employers are generally prohibited from requiring or requesting any employee or job applicant to take a lie detector test, and from discharging, disciplining, or discriminating against an employee or prospective employee for refusing to take a test or for exercising other rights under the Act.There is a law that protects eomployees called the Employee Polygraph Protection Act of 1988 (EPPA). I feel better already.
Please note that is still legal to have your employees do a drug test or even not employ any smoking employees (See this discussion, too.)
